An Icon on the Horizon
Ascending to 14,410 feet above sea level, Mount Rainier stands as an icon in the Washington landscape.

An active volcano, Mount Rainier is the most glaciated peak in the contiguous U.S.A., spawning five major rivers. Subalpine wildflower meadows ring the icy volcano while ancient forest cloaks Mount Rainierís lower slopes. Wildlife abounds in the parkís ecosystem. A lifetime of discovery awaits.

The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources of Mount Rainier National Park for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.

At the Washington State Fair, rangers and volunteers from Mount Rainier National Park will help you better understand how you can enjoy and protect this valuable resource in our own backyard. Exhibits, handouts, and fun activities are also available for young and old alike.
